Speech-Language Pathology Graduate Information Session
Virtual Session to be held on December 6, 2021 from 3pm-4pm.
Please email slpinformation@stonybrook.edu to receive an invite to the virtual information session.
September 2021:
Hi everyone! We are a part of the Stony Brook University graduate NSSLHA club. We are a relatively new program but are so excited to be a part of this community! In September, we welcomed the 2023 cohort and took part in a SLPeers program. The SLPeers program allowed for students of the 2023 cohort to be paired up with the 2022 cohort. This allows for a mentor and mentee relationship. We hope to continue this tradition with the incoming cohorts. On September 21st, the students participated in bingo night, where prizes were awarded to first, second, and third place winners. The bingo card featured SLP terms, such as "Speechies in the Making" and "SLP 2 Be." It was a great night for everyone to get to know each other better. On September 28th, some members of the 2023 cohort participated in a chicken and waffles event that brought awareness to the earthquake that took place in Haiti. The proceeds were donated to ALT4HAITI. We will also have an event in November where donations will be made for the people affected by the earthquake in Haiti. We look forward to telling you all about it and getting to know more about you all!
October 2021:
In the month of October, we had a lot of exciting events take place. On October 21st, the 2023 cohort had the pleasure of having a guest speaker join the NSSLHA meeting. They spoke with a travel Speech-Language Pathologist about what her job entails and received valuable information on the topic. On October 26th, NSSLHA held a Halloween-themed bake sale that included cookies, cupcakes, cake pops, etc. Proceeds from the event went to the Smile Train non-profit organization and the NSSLHA club. More exciting news - we launched our new Instagram profile @sbuslp2020 where we post a lot of content. Make sure to follow us there if you want to keep up to date with future events and other important information.
