Nature Walk Series: Exploring Health & Conservation
Join us for our 3rd Community Nature Walk! We’ll kick off the event with a health talk about tick safety with Stony Brook Medicine and then explore our local County Park’s local wildlife & conservation efforts with Eastern Long Island Audubon Society!

Date: July 16th
Time: 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Location: Indian Island County Park, Cross River Drive (Route 105), Riverhead NY 11901
Directions to Parking:
Take Long Island Expressway exit 71
Turn right onto Route 24 at the end of the exit ramp
Follow Route 24 south through the Riverhead Traffic Circle
Continue on Route 24 and make a left turn at the next traffic light onto Route 105
Follow Route 105 to the entrance on the right

About the Park:
- Trail length is approximately 1.1 miles
- Trail is flat, paved, and sandy or gravelly at points, leading to a beach area
- Shade coverage from trees on the trail
- Bathrooms are available
- Playground for children
- Campgrounds are open

How to Prepare for Your Nature Walk!
- Wear light-colored clothing, long pants and sleeves.
- Consider using bug repellents and walk along the center of trails.
- Conduct frequent clothing checks and carefully inspect your body for ticks.
- Bring water, wear sunscreen (at least SPF 30) and consider wearing a brimmed hat and comfortable shoes (no flip flops).
