We are a nationally-ranked OT program that makes every effort in providing a dynamic learning experience for our students. Our graduates will receive their degree in Occupational Therapy upon graduation and later sit for the national certification exam for occupational therapists administered by the National Board of Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT, http://www.nbcot.org). Consistent with AOTA, our program is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusive practices for all individuals and abilities. Our program encourages interdisciplinary and professional collaborative research, relationships with strong community programs, and opportunities to develop robust scholarly activities both within the program and as future leaders in healthcare.
We provide student-centered learning experiences and ongoing community projects as well as faculty mentorship throughout our students' academic experience. Oftentimes our mentorship continues post-graduation.
Our diverse and dedicated faculty bring their expertise and strengths to the classroom while encouraging our students to participate with them in scholarship and research as part of their extensive learning experiences. Students also have the opportunity to partake in numerous learning opportunities within SHP and the School of Medicine at Stony Brook University.
