About the Program

We welcome all interested applicants to apply to our full-time weekday program via OTCAS at https://otcas.liaisoncas.com/applicant-ux/#/login

Our Program Brochure has information on prerequisites and the OTCAS web address:

  • March 1 application deadline -- It is strongly recommended that all science prerequisite courses should be completed at the time of applying through OTCAS.
  • Preference will be given to those applicants who have completed the 20 credits of the science prerequisites at the time of applying through OTCAS.
  • It is strongly recommended that all applications should be submitted to OTCAS no later than March 1 (this includes submissions of all final transcripts into OTCAS) in order to allow processing time for authentication of those transcripts.
  • It is important to monitor OTCAS to see if transcripts and references have been received by OTCAS. Late documents could affect the processing of one's application.

SBU entry-level OTD program is now accepting applications!

Classes begin in June each year.

We are now accepting applications for our 3 year entry-level OTD program. Our program will be delivered only at the main HSC campus in a hybrid format. We strive to provide our students with a strong didactic curriculum and a diverse range of fieldwork and capstone opportunities. Stony Brook University is ranked as the #1 Public University in New York State and #26 in all public school institutions.

Our OTD program will prepare students to become licensed occupational therapists, with excellent skills in leadership, scholarship, advocacy, and clinical competence. Doctorally-prepared occupational therapists are ready to assume a variety of professional roles as an administrator, educator, researcher, clinician and scholar. This program will ensure that students develop the theory, practice, and research-based skills to become entry-level therapists, with advanced knowledge in a topic of interest as it relates to their chosen Doctoral Capstone project. We offer the lowest tuition in New York State for an entry-level OTD program.

Below are links that illustrate how our vision and mission statements are supported by the curriculum design and how all these components produce the program outcomes. There is also a link that explains the progression policy for the program and another link that illustrates the curriculum design for the three years (please note this chart may be adjusted or changed to support changes within the program).
