Rock Steady Boxing Valentine Party

New York Fitness and Boxing is looking for volunteers on Saturday February 18th at 6pm for their Valentine Dance Party, a social dance benefiting the Special Needs community. All who attend must wear Red and Black and walk down our fashion runway to win prizes. This party will have a live DJ, party lights, pizza and plenty of 80's Pop and Rock music. They are located at 1976 Jericho Turnpike, East Northport. All donations will go towards supporting upcoming social events for the special needs community!

ONGOING OPPORTUNITIES
Long Island Coalition for Homeless – Charity Drive
|
Hi everyone! For the month of February, we will be collecting hats, gloves, scarves, and food pantry items for the Long Island Coalition for the Homeless. The organization focuses on reducing the number of people experiencing homelessness on Long Island. For each item donated, .25 hours of community service will be granted (be sure to be logging your hours in the tracker form). Donation boxes will be located on both campuses (locations below). Please refer to the flyers below, which outline the specific items they are looking for. Thank you!
Stony Brook Campus: hallway between OT labs (starting 2/2; ending 2/27)
Southampton: in front of library glass doors (starting 2/8; ending 2/27)

Gigi’s Playhouse

Hi everyone! Gigi's Playhouse is looking for volunteers for various programs, including literacy, math, and fitness. Gigi's Playhouse is a Down Syndrome achievement center whose mission is to increase positive awareness of Down syndrome and empower individuals with Down syndrome. The nearest playhouse is located in Patchogue, only about 20 minutes from campus! Please refer to the attached flyer for more information about each program offered.

Rock Steady Boxing is looking for volunteers which will be an ongoing opportunity for Sundays moving forward so please reach out to Nicole (contact information below) for which Sunday you are interested in participating. Refer to the attached flyer for more information. This will count towards your volunteer hours so please be sure to track in the volunteer tracker.

Brightview Lake Tappan Assisted Living

Brightview Lake Tappan Assisted Living is looking for volunteers to help assist an elderly individual with their ADLs. Responsibilities would include bringing them outside, reading their mail or newspaper to them, and any other tasks they may need assistance with. Your main role will be providing companionship and assistance with easy tasks. Hours are flexible so reach out to the contact below to learn more!
Please note that this opportunity is in Rockland County and may be a far drive.

Stars and Strikes
Saturdays

Stars and Strikes is looking for volunteers which will be an ongoing opportunity for Saturdays from 1-3pm. Over 50 participants with various age ranges and various disabilities, majority of which, being autism spectrum disorder and down syndrome meet at Levittown bowling lanes. This will count for 2 hours towards your community service requirements.
- You are not obliged to continue attending weekly if you sign up , you can pop in on any Saturday -
