Emergencies and disasters can happen at any time often without warning. Planning and preparing can make a big difference in safety and resiliency in the wake of an incident.

Join us at a meeting of the East End Disabilities Network for a presentation by the Suffolk County Fire Rescue and Emergency Services Office of Emergency Management on being prepared, especially as it pertains to a more vulnerable population. Topics include extreme weather awareness, how you should prepare, emergency notification systems, how you respond, and how the county responds.

Digital Inclusion for Long Island CommunitiesLong Island Digital Inclusion Coalition

On an increasing basis, aspects of our daily lives are migrating to the digital space. Particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic when schools, workplaces, and even the healthcare system migrated to an online space, it became clear that access to the internet is much more than a privilege, it is a human right. The CCE has been working to assess levels of digital inclusion across Long Island, to determine where gaps exist and what the outcome of this might be.  Go to the Long Island Digital Inclusion Coalition (LIDIC)

Applied Health Informatics Student Project Assists Our CommunityCommunity Resources

Utilizing Python programming language, Applied Health Informatics students created a dashboard for Stony Brook Medicine to display Social Determinants of Health resources across Long Island to promote health equity. The Long Island Communities Resources dashboard allows the user to search by location and distance for resources in several categories, including domestic violence, emergency housing, food pantries, health clinics, mental health services, transportation, and veterans assistance.

Visit the dashboard.
