In 2021, Dr. Dale Coffin joined the OT Program at Stony Brook University as an Associate Professor and Department Chairperson. An Occupational Therapist since 1994, she completed her undergraduate studies at Stony Brook University and received a MS Degree & Certificate of Advanced Professional Studies in Occupational Therapy from Springfield College.  She received her Doctorate degree in Higher Education & Leadership at Grand Canyon University in 2019. Her area of specialty is in Pediatrics (Early Intervention/Pre-School) and Sensory Integration (SPIT Certified). In 2012, Dr. Coffin began teaching in Higher Education with roles as an Academic Fieldwork Coordinator, Program Coordinator and Department Chairperson.

Dr. Coffin has participated in and published research studies including Service Learning, the use of the Wii with Pre-School populations and therapeutic intervention with Head-Start schools. She has also presented at AOTA conferences and conducted numerous continuing education seminars. Dr. Coffin began Service Learning Trips to Belize in 2014, in conjunction with The Inspiration Center. Through her guidance, hundreds of children are serviced each year with needed therapy, equipment and plans of care. 

Dr. Coffin ensures that Service & Scholarship are embedded throughout the OT Program at Stony Brook in order to produce empathetic and compassionate practitioners.
