Dr. Lamberg received a BS in Clinical Sciences and an MS in Physical Therapy from Ithaca College. Following graduation Dr. Lamberg worked as a staff physical therapist in a variety of settings. Dr. Lamberg continued his education receiving a EdM and then completing his research focused EdD in Movement Sciences/Motor Control from the Department of Biobehavioral Sciences at Teachers College, Columbia University. Dr. Lamberg became a full-time faculty member in the physical therapy program at Long Island University in 2002 and then joined the Department of Physical Therapy at Stony Brook University in 2005.
Dr. Lamberg has focused his research initially on respiration and movement but then expanded his interests to be primarily centered around prosthetics, orthotics and their users. Dr. Lamberg has been funded and has presented and published numerous papers in the area of prosthetics, orthotics and their users. Dr. Lamberg is an expert in this area and has served on numerous Department of Defense grant review committees both as a member and as the chair evaluating the next step forward for research in this area.
Dr. Lamberg is a tenured Professor and is the primary instructor in HAY 512 - Prosthetics and Orthotics in Physical Therapy that is delivered in the Spring of Year 1. Dr. Lamberg is an active researcher and clinician in the area of prosthetics and orthotics and thus the scholarship he is involved in creating and evaluating is directly related and integrated into the coursework that he engages in with students.
Dr. Lamberg is also involved with those who live with amputation. Dr. Lamberg is currently the President of the American Amputee Soccer Association and the Head Coach of the US National Amputee Soccer Team. Dr. Lamberg has led this team to numerous international competitions and two Amputee World Cups.
