Rajiv Lajmi joined the School of Health Professions in July 2020 having spent almost 20 years in the healthcare, manufacturing, nonprofit and consulting industries, serving in leadership, program management and application development roles. In healthcare, he previously managed the Eagles Eye Mobile, an award-winning vision care program of the Philadelphia Eagles, where he deployed a home-grown EMR system to track patient medical histories. Later, he led Meaningful Use initiatives at Stony Brook Medicine involving the use of the Cerner EHR system, patient portal and population health platform. He has also held consulting and IT leadership roles at global organizations such as PwC, IDS Scheer (now Software AG), RSM and Eppendorf, where he was heavily engaged in technology advisory, process transformation, and system deployment and support activities.
Prof. Lajmi’s teaching and consulting focuses on IT strategic services (e.g., system selections, implementation planning), project and change management, and process improvement. He is passionate about social justice and education, and previously volunteered with community organizations such as Child Rights and You and the West Philadelphia Alliance for Children. He is currently involved with initiatives that promote digital inclusion on Long Island, and serves as the facilitator for the Long Island Digital Inclusion Coalition.
Prof. Lajmi holds degrees from the University of Pennsylvania (MS, Nonprofit Leadership), Drexel University (MBA, Management Information Systems) and the University of Mumbai (BCom, Accounting). He also holds certifications in project management (PMP), IT service management (ITILv3), Scrum (PSM) and Lean. He lives in Setauket, NY with his wife and two children.
