Welcome to Stony Brook University’s Athletic Training Program!
Our Master of Science in Athletic Training, housed in the School of Health Professions, is fully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE). Graduates are eligible to take the Board of Certification (BOC) exam, paving the way to a rewarding career in athletic training.
With over 37 years of history and more than 250 alumni working in diverse healthcare settings, our program has evolved from an internship in the 1980s to a successful bachelor’s degree, and now to a dynamic graduate-level program. We awarded our first Master of Science degree in Athletic Training in 2021, marking a new and exciting chapter for Stony Brook.

Students gain experience working with NCAA Division I, II, and III athletes, high school teams, physician practices, and industrial environments.
