The Athletic Training program is excited to unveil our 2024-2028 strategic plan, a forward-thinking framework designed to align with the school’s and university’s overarching missions, visions, and goals. This comprehensive plan has been designed not only meet but exceed accreditation standards, ensuring that our program remains at the forefront of academic excellence. By focusing on the success of our faculty, staff, and students, we aim to foster an environment where all members of our academic community can thrive. Furthermore, our strategic plan emphasizes the expansion of collaboration and partnerships, seeking to build meaningful connections that will enhance our academic offerings and broaden our impact. This plan represents a commitment to growth, excellence, and a unified approach to achieving our collective aspirations.

Mission

The mission of the CAATE-accredited athletic training program is to provide students with an extensive and comprehensive didactic and clinical education from which to build a strong foundation for a career in athletic training.

Strategic Priority I - AT Program Education Delivery

Goal I.1 - Growth | Grow the AT program by expanding the reputation of the program through quality assurance  

Objective 1 - Program Quality

  • Tactic - AT will uphold the highest educational standards of it program to ensure continued accreditation with CAATE

Goal I.2 - Student-centric | Streamline AT program processes to increase student recruitment

Objective 1 - Streamlined Processes: Enhancement of processes and performance for recruitment and retention 

  • Tactic - AT faculty strengthen pathways for recruitment into the field of Athletic Training
  • Tactic – AT will develop MOUs and articulation agreements to strengthen the pipeline to its program

Goal I.3 - Novel Education | Foster educational and clinical experiences.          

Objective 1 - Novel Education Model: Deliver exemplary didactic and clinical instruction to achieve optimal outcomes    

  • Tactic - AT program will meet or exceed the yearly published BOC first time pass rate

Objective 2 -  Skill Building: Optimize student skill-base for success as an athletic trainer  

  • Tactic - AT will ensure students receive curricular instruction in the 2020 CAATE Standards in accordance with accreditation requirements.          

Objective 3 - Assessment of processes and outcomes

  • Tactic - AT program faculty and staff will review processes and outcomes of student exams, employer surveys, clinical feedback, and student evaluations
  • Tactic - AT faculty will review program outcomes and student learning outcomes

Strategic Priority II - AT Program Workforce and Culture

Goal II.1 - High-performance culture | Cultivating engagement, wellness, and belonging of faculty, staff, and students           

Objective 1 - Develop and retain qualified, credentialed faculty        

  • Tactic - AT will support continuing education of faculty 
  • Tactic -  AT will support professional development and growth in the profession with funds to attend conferences, webinars, and opportunities to present work  

Objective 2 - Create a diverse and inclusive culture that values and leverages the unique perspectives, backgrounds, and talents of all individuals        

  • Tactic - AT will incorporate cultural competency components into the curriculum to enhance student awareness of DEI principles

Objective 3 – Mentorship: Support Faculty and Staff Success Through Mentoring Opportunities

  • Tactic – AT will support and encourage the participation of faculty and staff engagement in SHP mentoring program

Strategic Priority III - Research

Goal III.1 - Novel research | Promote and expand research initiatives

Objective 1 - Faculty Research: Support research opportunities for all faculty         

  • Tactic - AT faculty will be encouraged to engage in scholarly activities

Objective 2 -  Interprofessional Research: Foster interprofessional research and collaboration       

  • Tactic - AT will develop partnerships with students, faculty, staff and community stakeholders to engage in interprofessional scholarly or creative activities

Strategic Priority IV - Program Resources

Goal IV.1 - Program-wide excellence | Support and advance excellence through the allocation and utilization of resources               

Objective 1 - Support advancement opportunities to increase philanthropy 

  • Tactic - AT will create strategies for successful advancement and development opportunities by facilitating philanthropic relationships with potential donors
  • Tactic - AT will create a fundraising campaign to develop and maintain connections with members of the AT community    

Objective 2 - Reputation: Optimize marketing and communication initiatives to support AT program awareness and engagement          

  • Tactic - AT will grow its social media presence   
  • Tactic - AT will work with Dean's office and digital SB web experts to ensure search engine optimization and best end-user web experience         

Strategic Priority V - Program Community and Partnerships

Goal V.1 - Expansion of AT Community and  Partnerships | Expand and advance internal and external partnerships to strengthen community connections and affiliate relationships  

Objective 1 - Affiliations: Expand and develop affiliations     

  • Tactic - AT will  expand clinical affiliations and explore novel clinical settings to increase offering to AT students and increase external partnerships, to facilitate a mutual exchange of ideas, and resources

Objective 2 - Community Engagement: Supporting and strengthening partnerships with community members    

  • Tactic - AT will support community engagement through SHP initiatives
