Requirements

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS AND ACADEMIC PREREQUISITES

Applicants to the Clinical Laboratory Sciences program must have the following prerequisites:

  • a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 (on a scale of 4.0)
  • completion of at least 57 college credits (with grades of C or better from transfer institutions) including:

All science courses should include a laboratory and be designated for science majors, and must have been completed within the past seven years.

The program offers a four-year option that enables Stony Brook freshman students to declare a lower division major, fulfill prerequisite courses and complete an introduction course, HAD 210 (grade of A- or better required).

Minimum GPA IS 2.5

Minimum of 57 credits are required and all courses must be taken for a Grade of C or better.

 

Students preparing for careers as clinical laboratory scientists are also expected to perform patient testing safely and accurately, maintain competence under challenging conditions, exhibit good manual dexterity, work with sophisticated instrumentation, communicate effectively in written and spoken English, show respect for self and others, work independently, and project an image of professionalism.
