“Understanding the perceived benefit of a peer-editing program utilizing instructor modeling and group sessions on undergraduates’ writing skills, writing confidence, and peer-editing skills.” The guiding question of this scholarship of assessment project was: What is the benefit of utilizing instructor-modeled peer-editing and peer-editing small group sessions in an upper division writing course on undergraduates’ writing skills, writing confidence, and peer-editing ability? Co-Investigator, School of Health Technology and Management, Department of Rehabilitative Science, Physical Therapy Program, February 2009 – September 2009 - Research Title: Cardiovascular risk factors, body composition, fitness levels, and quality of life in overweight and obese 8-17 year olds: Changes after a 10 week exercise and nutrition program - Research activities: Conducted interviews with study participants and administered questionnaires designed to measure “stage of readiness” to engage in physical activity at pre and post intervention. “Evaluating the perceived impact of a Disability Studies undergraduate curriculum on alumni from the Health Science major currently working in healthcare or attending a graduate or certificate program” - This study is conducted to determine the perceived impact of an undergraduate Disability Studies curriculum on alumni working in the healthcare related field or attending a graduate degree or certification program. The main research question guiding this mixed methods survey is: What is the perceived impact of an undergraduate disability studies curriculum on the attitudes and behavior of the alumni who have successfully completed the concentration and are now working in the health care field or attending a graduate or certificate degree program? Will there be a difference in perceived impact on attitudes and behavior in relation to the area of health care alumni are currently working or studying in? - Kathleen McGoldrick, Principal Investigator July 2012 - June 2014

“Critical Thinking: Comparing Instructional Methodologies in a Senior-Year Learning Community”- This study compared the impact of two common instructional methodologies on critical thinking skills development in a novel undergraduate student population within a novel higher educational setting. This quasi-experimental (nonequivalent control group) study employed a mixed methods data collection strategy, in which pre- and post-quantitative and qualitative data was collected simultaneously and will be used to analyze changes in students’ critical thinking.
