Dr. Rosalia Casanova earned her Post-Professional OTD at Boston University in 2019, a Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy and Bachelor’s Degree in Health Sciences at Stony Brook University in 2011, and an Associates of Applied Science in Occupational Therapy in 2007 at Suffolk County Community College.

Dr. Casanova’s clinical experience includes geriatric, adult rehab, physical disabilities, neuro rehabilitation, and management. Her experience includes NYS Medicare and Medicaid SNF regulating compliance, ACOTE Fieldwork standards and compliance, and quality assurance in clinical education.

Her research interests include burnout prevention, cultural competency/humility, IPE, and education in occupational therapy. Dr. Casanova is a faculty advisor for SBU’s OT SOTA and COTAD Chapters. Dr. Casanova is also a member of NYSOTA, AOTA, WFOT, COTAD, and LILTA.

Dr. Casanova’s current teaching experience includes graduate Occupational Therapy courses, topics include: Theories of Adult Rehabilitation, Assessment & Treatment of Adult Rehabilitation, Assessment & Treatment of Upper Extremities, Prosthetics & Orthotics, and Community, Occupation & Health.
