Hannah W. Mercier received her Ph.D. in Rehabilitation Sciences at MGH Institute of Health Professions, her M.S. in Occupational Therapy at the University of New England, and her B.S. in Therapeutic Studies at Boston University. Dr. Mercier’s expertise is in adult neurologic rehabilitation, mobile health intervention and assessment, community mobility and social engagement after disability, and health self-management.
Dr. Mercier’s research interests are the intersection of disability, health, and participation and interventions to mitigate them, including the development and implementation of individualized mobile health interventions. Dr. Mercier also studies smartphone-based digital phenotyping to understand time-dependent relationships between health and participation after major injury and trajectories of psychosocial wellbeing.
Dr. Mercier is a research consultant to Empower Spinal Cord Injury, Inc. and a member of the American Occupational Therapy Association, the World Federation of Occupational Therapists, American Spinal Injury Association, and the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine. Courses taught in the Occupational Therapy Program have included Research Methods, Gerontology, Disability Studies, and Service Learning Capstone Experience.
