Mandeep Patel MD FACP |
Dr. Mandeep Patel graduated from New York Medical College (NYMC) in 2003. She completed her internal medicine residency training at Tuft New England Medical Center in Boston, MA. She was on faculty at Tufts New England Medical Center after residency and moved back to her native NY to join Stony Brook University Department of Medicine in 2007. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and has completed mini fellowships in Geriatrics at Mount Sinai Hospital and Stony Brook Medicine.
Dr. Patel has been actively working as an internist at Stony Brook Department of Medicine/Division of General Medicine and Geriatrics since 2007 with a busy primary care practice. She also has been involved in medical student education since joining Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University. She has been involved in teaching medical students in the introduction to clinical medicine (ICM) course and was recently made Co-director of ICM. She serves as preceptor for the ambulatory medicine course and for internal medicine residents in primary care. She serves a mentor to primary care residents and has been involved in numerous Quality Improvement (QI) Projects in her clinic as a member of the QI committee. She also is a fellow of the American College of Physicians (ACP) and has been a reviewer for medical abstracts by medical students and residents.
Dr. Patel joined the PA program as medical director in July 2021. In this new role, she plans to bring her skills of health care education to PA students. She has a strong interest and background in medical education and delivery of quality and evidence based clinical care to patients. She will be conducting the Medical Director Presentation Rounds. These ongoing sessions help students to develop strong and effective oral presentation skills, which are essential in medical practice. She also will be lecturing on various medical topics. Educating our future health care providers on current and best practices in medicine is imperative for better health care outcomes. Dr. Patel is a native New Yorker and enjoys spending time with her family and traveling.
