Advanced Certificate in Nutrition

The Advanced Certificate in Nutrition Program is offered by the Graduate Nutrition Program in the Department of Family Medicine, to students in the PA Post-Professional Program at NO additional tuition cost. This collaboration was developed in response to a growing need for health professionals to be trained to provide basic nutrition care and education to people in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

The Advanced Certificate Program is a part time 15 credit online program. Students must be matriculated in both the PA Post-Professional Masters Program and the Advanced Certificate program simultaneously in order to be awarded both the MS degree and the Advanced Certificate upon completion of all required coursework. Students who are interested in the Advanced Certificate Program in Nutrition can complete up to 6 nutrition program credits prior to matriculation into the Advanced Certificate Program. Students are not allowed to complete the required courses and THEN apply to the Advanced Certificate Program. Advisors from both the PA Post-Professional Masters Program and the Advanced Certificate Program are available to assist with course selection. Five courses, to include the PA PPMP core course of HAP 552 Evidence Based Medicine, are required in the Advanced Certificate Program. Four approved nutrition courses will fulfill both the elective requirements of the PA Post-Professional Program and the Advanced Certificate Program. These courses are found on all course offerings by term listings and on our overall curriculum page.

Separate applications must be completed for the PA Post-Professional Masters Program and the Advanced Certificate Program. Click HERE for complete program and application details.
