Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month

The School of Health Professions Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

Hispanic Heritage Month

Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated from September 15 to October 15. During this time we honor the rich tapestry of cultures, histories, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans such as César Chávez (civil rights leader), Frida Kahlo (iconic Mexican artist), Sonia Sotomayor (first Latina Supreme Court Justice in U.S. history), Gabriel García Márquez (Colombian novelist and Nobel laureate), Rita Moreno (acclaimed Puerto Rican actress, singer, and dancer, one of the few to achieve EGOT status (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony)), Desi Arnaz (Cuban-American actor and musician, best known for his role on I Love Lucy), and Lin-Manuel Miranda (Puerto Rican composer, lyricist, and actor, celebrated for creating and starring in the hit musical Hamilton), just to name a few.

Let’s celebrate the resilience, creativity, heritage, and profound impact on American society, arts, politics and more during this meaningful celebration!
