SHP Research Committee Members

Last Update: Feb 12, 2025

The Research Committee is dedicated to promoting awareness of research policies, procedures, and best practices within the School of Health Professions. It strives to foster a collaborative environment that supports faculty and student research initiatives while ensuring alignment with the mission, policies, and strategic initiatives of the School. Additionally, the committee actively promotes interdisciplinary collaboration with other Health Sciences schools, including Medicine, Nursing, Social Welfare, and Dentistry, as well as broader engagement with Stony Brook University.

The governance of the committee consists of five faculty representatives elected by the Assembly, with no more than two from the same department serving as voting members. Faculty representatives serve a minimum term of three years with no maximum limit. The committee elects its chair for a minimum two-year term, with the possibility of renewal, and a vice-chair who assumes leadership if the chair position becomes vacant. Student participation is encouraged, allowing interested students to engage in meetings and contribute to the committee’s efforts.
